Many classics, especially if they are British-made cars, have few fuses.
It’s not uncommon to only find two basic fused circuits on Jaguars, Triumphs, MGs, Austin Healeys and the like.
Contrast that with today, where most car circuits are individually fused, and you can sense how far the motor industry has come in making cars wiring safer and more reliable.
Project Shop looks after ex-BMC Works rally cars. When we examine the wiring harnesses on those, they adopt the modern convention of having individual circuits uniquely fused too.
So if you are proposing to use your car regularly, or in any sort of Historic race or rally capacity, it makes sense to upgrade to modern systems to increase reliability and make future fault-finding easier.
Project Shop electricians can create bespoke wiring and additional fuse boxes. In most instances they will do so conforming to the car’s own wiring colour conventions. This makes the car retain its originality and for any future work, is logical. We can add relays to power headlamps, protecting switchgear too.
