Post 1960 – Every car must pass an annual MOT Test
The MOT is the annual safety hoop that every post 1960 car has to jump through. It is also a time of dread for most owners, but Project Shop can help. Our huge experience, across many classic makes and models means we know how to make sure your car is safe and ensure that MOT pass.
We have prepared hundreds of classic cars for sales firms since 2008. Their criteria has always been the same, to be:
- Pass an MOT.
Three of our six classic car engineers have been MOT testers and we make sure we keep up to date with the latest changes in legislation. Their combined experience of the test and specialising in old cars means that we know what will pass or fail and what to check, adjust or replace before the test.
- Wheels and tyres
- The vehicles structure
- Steering and suspension components
- Electrical systems
We have been using the same test centre since the company was formed. They have carried out over 100 tests a year for us, so understand classic cars in a way that your average test centre does not. They are just a few hundred yards from PS HQ.
We can test your classic car for just £58.00
Pre-1960 – Road-worthiness check
It is entirely voluntary, but we believe that pre-1960 vehicles should have a safety check once a year. Knowing the limitations of these cars, we can apply the same pass/fail criteria to make sure your classic car will continue to perform correctly.
Although cars built before 1960 are currently exempt from an MOT a road-worthiness test protects you, the driver. This is because the driver is legally responsible for ensuring the car is both safe and complies with the law. Over 60% of the criteria are almost impossible to check in your garage without a vehicle lift and brake testing equipment so it makes sense to have it done professionally.
A pre-1960 road-worthiness test costs just £58.00 including VAT.
